President Masoud Barzani received a French diplomatic delegation today at his office in Salahadin. The French delegation was headed by Ambassador Bruno Aubert, France's ambassador to Iraq. The meeting commenced with President Barzani's expression of his gratitude to the people and government of France for their positive role that has been played by France following the recent events in Kurdistan.
Ambassador Aubert conveyed the greetings of President Emmanuel Macron and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian to President Barzani. Additionally, the ambassador congratulated the President for the successful elections for Iraq's Council of Representatives which were held last month.
The two sides spoke of the political situation in Iraq and President Barzani emphasized on the importance of the formation of a new government on the basis of partnership and consensus. The President and the ambassador also made reference to the dangerous possibility of the reemergence of the activities of the terrorists in Iraq and how the new government must work towards the complete extermination of the terrorists' activities in Iraq.
