Salahadin, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, (Barzani Headquarters)- President Masoud Barzani received a European Union delegation today to discuss the latest political developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and Syria. The delegation was headed by Jean-Christophe Belliard, the Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs of the European External Action Service, EEAS. During the meeting, the two sides spoke of the new developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and the situation in Syria.
President Barzani and Mr. Belliard spoke of the process of the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet following last September's parliamentary elections. The two sides also spoke of the new Iraqi government and how Adil Abdul-Mahdi's tenure seems to be paving the path for a new chapter of relations between Baghdad and Erbil. President Barzani reiterated his message of optimism insofar as the new Iraqi government is concerned. The President and Mr. Belliard also spoke of the situation in Syria in general and in the Rojava area in particular.
