President Barzani Receives a High-Level French Delegation



Salahadin, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, (Barzani Headquarters)- President Masoud Barzani received a French government delegation headed by Jean-Yves Le Drian, the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, President Barzani and Minister Le Drian discussed the current political situations in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and the latest developments concerning the war on the terrorists of the Islamic State.

President Barzani began the meeting by warmly welcoming Minister Le Drian to the Kurdistan Region and took advantage of the opportunity to thank the people and government of France for their support to the Kurdistan Region. The President made reference to the fact that the French government was supportive of the Kurdistan Region during some of the most challenging times in our recent history.

The two sides spoke of the current political situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and how the relations between Erbil and Baghdad have improved. Minister Le Drian stated that the new Iraqi government and President Barzani's recent visit to Baghdad have paved the path for a brighter future between Erbil and Baghdad. President Barzani also expressed his optimism about the situation and stated that he will continue to support Adil Abdulmahdi in pursuit of the mutual benefit for the people of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

President Barzani and Minister Le Drian also discussed the situation in Syria; the two sides agreed that the Kurds of Syria should not be victimized due to political agreements between the various powers involved in Syria.
