Masoud Barzani

On Sunday, February 8, 2026, a phone call took place between President Masoud Barzani and Mr. Tom Barrack, President Trump’s Special Envoy to Syria and the U.S. Ambassador to Turkey.

During this conversation, both parties shared their perspectives on the overall political climate in the region, as well as the most recent developments and changes in Syria. They mutually agreed that all efforts and necessary measures should continue to be taken to avert chaos, instability, and conflict, and to ensure peace and stability.

In the same conversation, both parties praised each other's significant contributions and the important roles they have played to fostering peace and stability in the region.
President Barzani also conveyed his gratitude for the United States' involvement and underscored the importance of maintaining the alliance between the people of Kurdistan and the United States.
