President Masoud Barzani received a high-level delegation from the HDP, Democratic Society Party. The delegation consisted of Ms. Pervin Buldan, the Chairwoman of HDP and Mr. Osman Baydemir, former mayor of Diyarbakir and current member of Turkey's Grand National Assembly as well as a number of other MPs and HDP members.
President Masoud Barzani received a diplomatic delegation from the Russian embassy in Iraq headed by Maksim Maksimov, Russia's ambassador to Iraq. During the meeting, President Barzani and ambassador Maksimov spoke on a number of issues that Iraq and the Kurdistan Region are facing. The two sides also made reference to the historic relations between Russia and Kurdistan and how those relations remain part of the Kurdish memory.
President Masoud Barzani received a United States government delegation headed by Mr. Brett McGurk, the Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The meeting commenced with Mr. McGurk congratulating President Barzani for the successful elections for the Iraqi Council of Representatives last Saturday. He also made reference to President Barzani's crucial role in Iraq, Kurdistan and the Middle East region. Mr. McGurk also stated that the bilateral relations between the United States and the Kurdistan Region shall continue and only be widened and strengthened.
