Salahadin, Kurdistan Region of Iraq (Barzani Headquarters)- President Masoud Barzani received a United States government delegation headed by Dr. Denise Natali, the Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations at the Department of State. The delegation also included Mr. Andre Peek, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Iran and Iraq at the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs.
The meeting started with the conveyance of the greetings of Vice President Mike Pence to President Barzani. During the meeting, President Barzani and Dr. Natali spoke of the latest political developments in Iraq and in the Kurdistan Region. They also discussed the issue of the IDPs and the ongoing threat of terrorism from the Islamic State and explored avenues to resolve such issues.
The President and the delegation discussed the improved relations between Baghdad and Erbil and how that is seen an optimistic step towards further stability and prosperity for the Kurdistan Region and the rest of Iraq.
