President Barzani Receives a German Delegation



Salahadin, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, (Barzani Headquarters)- President Masoud Barzani Received a German government delegation headed by Mr. Martin Jaeger, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development. The delegation also included Germany's ambassador to Iraq, Dr. Cyrill Nunn and the Consul General to Erbil, Ms. Barbara Wolf.


During the meeting, State Secretary Jaeger briefed the President on his visit to Iraq and spoke of some avenues of cooperation. President Barzani and the German delegation also discussed the political developments in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region and beyond. The President highlighted some issues such as the enhancement of the relations between Erbil and Baghdad.

President Barzani expressed his appreciation to the people and government of Germany for their support to the Kurdistan Region during the challenging times of the war against the terrorists of the Islamic State. The President made a specific note on Germany's supply of Milan anti-tank infantry missiles to the Peshmerga forces. The President and the German government delegation made reference to the historically strong ties between Germany and the Kurdistan Region and hoped that those relations will only be enhanced for the mutual benefit of both sides.
